Short acting hormonal methods
Injection
Contains a hormone called progesterone.
It can be used monthly or quarterly, according to the dosage of each product. It must be then re applied every 4 or 12 weeks.
Breaks between shots must be rigorously respected to guarantee its efficacy.
Alters menstrual intensity, lack of a period can occur, or intermittent bleeding.
Prevents pregnancy but does not prevent STIs.
THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT STIs
IS THE USE OF CONDOMS.
USE A COMBINATION OF METHODS
FOR BETTER PROTECTION.
INJECTION IS AVAILABLE AT THE
PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM (SUS).
