This method is used to avoid unprotected intercourse on a woman's fertile days.

Fertile days are those in the middle of the cycle, when ovulation is most likely to occur. For example, in a 27 day cycle, the fertile days would be those between the 9th and the 18th day.
 

It is not a safe method.
